    Transitional Housing - (Opening Soon)

A Safe Space to Live, Create and Build a New LIFE

Housing Women and Children (including Pregnant Teenage Girls ages 14-24) providing an environment where everyone will thrive. Living in a safe environment will improve participants (residents) ability to create a holistic balanced life. It will provide young women with a stable safe location for giving birth to healthy happy babies.

    RISKS:

Early childbearing can increase risks for newborns as well as young mothers. Babies born to mothers under 20 years of age face higher risks of low birth weight, preterm delivery and severe neonatal conditions.

    The LINKS:

Teen childbearing, family planning and socioeconomic characteristics, as well as the relatively high rates of adolescent childbearing among Black and Hispanic teens, can be attributed largely to inequities in access to family planning services and information; differences in attitudes about contraception, teen pregnancy, and teen childbearing; and distrust of medical professionals due to experiences with providers and some groups’ history of mistreatment by the medical field.

    SOLUTION:

A strong support system that includes Parents, Educators & Community Members!

PROBLEM: There are achievement gaps in the local school districts, they are masked by claiming Black and Brown boys are labeled with behavioral problems even when they do not.

SOLUTION: Access to better teachers, curriculum that is relevant to their existence and building their confidence in their own culture and academic abilities. This will lead all students to success in the classroom and beyond.

    Life Skills

    A Career Path:

Teen pregnancy is linked to poverty, 63% of teen mothers receive public assistance within their first year of motherhood. Investing in training young people but specifically mothers will improve their chances of employment and their quality of life. Families deserve to live above the poverty line whether they are the traditional nuclear family or being lead by Women as heads of households.

    A Pathway to Homeownership:

A Roadmap from transitional housing, low income housing, market rents to homeownership.

Living in Poverty contributes to mental health breakdowns, a person can only stabilize themselves when they have a home. Be it, a dome, container home, receiving subsidies for an apartment, townhome or owning a tiny house.

Baldwin Hills Community Development Corporation is committed to our mission. In 2023, BHCDCorp intend to purchase land for the purpose of building low income housing. It is our Mission, to reduce the number of citizens experiencing homelessness.
